When we moved into our house almost 3 years ago I was excited because it had already been painted and the carpet was brand new. I mean, this was our very first resale home (every house we have ever owned has been built brand new) and it meant that we didn't have to put one single lick of work into it.
The only downside was, well, the house was seriously all from the same exact color palette. There was no contrast and nothing exciting about it.
Somewhere along the way I realized that the kitchen cabinets and the blinds are more orange than I would ever care for, and now I am in the process of trying to introduce some contrast to my world. We are taking down the orange "wood" blinds which were apparently extremely popular at the time our houses were built as all of our neighbors also have wood blinds or shutters. We are installing white blinds and have installed white shutters in some of the rooms.
We also bought this awesome tile flooring for our family room- tile that looks like wood plank flooring. Of course, yesterday my sister and I moved 56 boxes of tile and today I cannot move.... But come October we are going to tackle this family room project and give this house another dimension.
And yes, soon I will be proud to say my house is no longer 50 Shades of Beige. Stay tuned- before and after pics to follow!
